The Best Bread for Grinder Subs (My Jimmy John’s Hack)
If you want these Sheet Pan Sausage and Pepper Grinder Subs to taste like a true sandwich shop meal, the bread matters.
My go to trick is buying Jimmy John’s day old bread. You can usually just ask for it at the counter, and it is the perfect size and texture for grinder subs. It holds up to the melty cheese, roasted peppers, and dressing without getting soggy.
I usually buy it and use it the same day, or I’ll freeze it so I always have it on hand for an easy dinner night. It tastes fresh, toasts beautifully, and honestly makes these subs taste even better than takeout.
If you have a Jimmy John’s near you, I highly recommend trying this. It is hands down my favorite bread for this recipe.
